Highly concentrated suspension solids in raw or waste water can be removed with the use of water treatment clarifier. The clarifier sedimentation tank of circular design works on the principle of gravity settling. As the name suggests, this unit is used for water treatment. This tank can also treat wastewater. This process starts from removal of floating and settleable solids with the process of sedimentation. The content of suspended solids and pollutants in suspended solids are reduced by primary clarifier. The secondary clarifier, also called sedimentation tank removes flocs of biological growth created in several methods of secondary treatment. In potable water treatment, water to be treated for human consumption, is mixed with floculation reagents before sending to the water treatment clarifier. In the clarifier, flocculated coagulate is removed and clarified water is produced. The large and heavy particles settle at the bottom of the tank, forming a bottom layer of sludge that is needed to be regularly removed and disposed. Clarified water undergoes several other processes before being sent for storage and use.
